Forwarding a Distribution List in Outlook 2007

A common request I receive is how to send a distribution list to another Outlook user.  There are actually two ways to do this and I’ll go over them both below.  I’ve also included how the other person can save it to their own contact list.

1. Open your Contact Tab
2. Find the Distribution List you’d like to forward
3. Option one to send
    a. Right-click the Distribution List
    b. Select Send Full Contact > In Outlook Format
    c. An email window will open with the Distribution List as an attachment
    d. Send the email to your colleague as if you were sending any other email
4. Option two to send
    a. Double-click the Distribution List to open it
    b. Click Send in the Actions tab
    c. Select In Outlook Format
    d. An email window will open with the Distribution List as an attachment
    e. Send the email to your colleague as if you were sending any other email

Disabling Document Sent to Printer Message

You know those pesky yellow call buttons that pop up after you print something? All they do is tell you “This document had been sent to the printer.” Well, that’s not quite all, but it’s about all you see. Ever wanted to turn them off and get rid of them?

1. Right Click on the Taskbar
2. Select Properties
3. Select the Taskbar tab
4. Check the Hide inactive icons checkbox
5. Click Customize
6. Find the printer icon
7. Left Click on the Behavior
8. Select Always Hide
9. Click OK
10. Click OK

CSS Color Names

Want your CSS code to be a little more readable?  I sometimes find all those numbers and letter to be a bit overwhelming. Below is a list of color names and their corresponding HEX values.  They are supported by all major browsers and should help make your code a bit easier to understand. It is certainly not a comprehensive list, since there are millions of possible colors available, but it’s a good start!

If you want to validate your pages with a HTML or CSS validator, the 16 colors listed by W3C are given below. All of the other colors will need to be specified using their RGB or HEX value.

Aqua, Black, Blue, Fuchsia, Gray, Green, Lime, Maroon, Navy, Olive, Purple, Red, Silver, Teal, White and Yellow
